My work placement at BBC Good Food magazine was brilliant.
I worked with the subbing team, wrote copy for the magazine, assisted at photo shoots in swanky London apartments, tested recipes in the Good Foodkitchen and had lunch cooked by Levi Roots, ‘Mr Reggae Reggae sauce’ from Dragon’s Den.
During my placement I felt fully supported by the tutors at Falmouth, who were keeping an eye on the blogs we had to write and were on hand if we had any questions.
I also took part in the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta, sailing from Falmouth to Illhavo, Portugal aboard the Dutch Tall Ship, Tecla. I documented the trip using an industry standard video camera and my footage was broadcast on BBC Spotlight.
I now work at YCN, a Creative Agency in London. I have always been interested in Graphic Design and many of the articles I wrote at Falmouth were about the design industry. As a student I did a placement atCreative Review magazine and I believe this helped me stand to out from the crowd at my interview.
